OK, all you gamers! It’s time to pull your eyes away from the screen, set down your controller, leave the house… and go to Emerald Coast Con 2015!
Emerald Coast Con is Okaloosa’s first gaming convention for all ages. This convention will be a three-day event held at the Emerald Coast Convention Center October 23-25, 2015. It is dedicated - but not limited to - retro, current-gen, next-gen and indie gaming and game development.
EmeraldCon is not only for gamers and techies but will also include a broad assortment of pop-culture exhibits and fanfare for lovers of comics, cosplay, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and multi-genre entertainment. It will feature free play exhibits, a retro arcade room, gaming tournaments with cash prizes, Q&A panels for special guests, a trading room for collectors, fan booths, prize drawings for rare games and gaming accessories, survival horror booths with special effects workshops, game development exhibits, indie developer booths, and many more exciting displays.
EmeraldCon is an effort to capture appreciation for gaming and media arts entertainments, advocate computer-science education and literacy, and build awareness and recognition for hunger-relief and the disabled. All proceeds from this event will benefit local charities Destin Harvest and The Arc of the Emerald Coast.
"In addition to raising support and mass awareness for our charities, we will strive to establish EmeraldCon as ‘the gaming event’ for Northwest Florida and appeal to pop-culture enthusiasts from all over the Southeast," explains Chris Leavenworth of Destin Harvest.
Tickets to EmeraldCon are $15 for Friday, $25 for Saturday, $20 for Sunday, or $40 for a 3-day weekend pass.
