Pensacon is Pensacola’s own Comic Con happening February 19-21, 2016. Comic Cons, big and small, occur all over the country, bringing together sci-fi and fantasy fans as well as the actual characters in one place to meet and greet. Guests dress as their favorite characters and can purchase memorabilia at vendor booths.

Last year’s Pensacon turned into a large partnership between chambers of commerce, local businesses and affluent city leaders to become the largest independent fan convention in the country.  They plan is to do the same this time around, bringing business to Pensacola restaurants and retail areas by drawing sci-fi fans from all over the country.

Weekend passes will allow fans to enjoy all the convention has to offer. There is a short film festival and a costume contest that guests can register in advance.  Many celebrities will also be present at the meet and greet including Harry Melling, an English actor best known for playing Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films, and Jonathan Frakes, best known for his portrayal of Commander William T. Riker in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation and subsequent films.

For those HBO’s Game of Thrones fans, three actors will be present: Eugene Simon who plays Lancel Lannister, Gemma Whelan who plays Yara Greyjoy and Ellie Kendrick who plays Meera Reed. All celebrity guests will be at tables, available to meet fans, take photographs and sign autographs. Autograph and photograph prices vary by celebrity.
