For hands-on fun for all ages, take your child to the Emerald Coast Science Center. The new museum location on Memorial Parkway in FWB features four main areas: Robotics, Under the Hood and Wind Tunnel, Critters and Bubble Room, and Color and Light.   These areas are open year-round and are available to discover daily.

In the robotics section, children can find interactive robotic units, underwater exploration units and even a health robot. The Under the Hood and Wind Tunnel area allows visitors to land model airplanes in a swirling wind tunnel and learn how cars are designed.

In the Critter Room, children can meet Tickles the snake and many vibrant, chirping parakeets, and right next door is the Bubble Room where children can see how large a bubble they can make and test out the air cannon.  The Color and Light room is a whirling kaleidoscope of light color and modern technology and offers amazing life-like holograms.

The Emerald Coast Science Center features a brand-new outdoor series of nature walkways and a turtle pond swimming with rescued turtles. The center plans to expand the outdoor area in October by adding a sustainable garden.

This summer the Science Center is home to many exciting and new day camps for locals and visitors to enjoy. You can sign up in advance, which is suggested because of the popularity, or walk in and sign up. The camp themes include Superhero, Gulf Coast Adventure, Build It!, Circus Camp, Dino Camp and Out of this World. You can sign your child up for full day or half-day camp sessions. Morning camp is from 9-12 p.m., lunch is from 12-1 p.m. and the afternoon camp runs from 1-4 p.m.

Make sure to check out the specialized classes offered this summer on the Emerald Coast Science Center website. These include Wednesday art classes - Abrakadoodle and Young Rembrandts, Friday LEGO workshops, and Spots and Tots offered every Tuesday-Thursday.

Special exhibits and events are also featured throughout the year. Visit www.ecscience.org for more information and camp dates.
