Horizon Stars was the brainchild of Adrianna Bowman, local Realtor, who has modeled herself all over the world, and wanting to make a difference in our community. Ms. Bowman brought her idea to Donna Tashik, Community Development Adviser for Horizons of Okaloosa County, and a show was born. A committee was assembled, consisting of Sandy Buckly, ELJ magazine, Debbie West, Simply Elegant, Chasen Grieshop, Particle 9 Productions, Velia Lala, local artist, John Dye, modeling coach,Ms. Bowman and Ms. Tashik.

The true "Horizon Stars" of the evening will be Mary Adams and Lisa Melton, both clients receiving services from Horizons of Okaloosa County, a dream come true for the 2 ladies. Horizons serves over 400 local citizens with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and other intellectual disabilities. Horizons was established in 1954, and provides such services as 5 group homes, assisted living, job placement and training, early intervention, a Childrens Center and advocacy. All proceeds from the event will go to Horizons.

2 casting calls were held for local models to volunteer their time for the event, and the turnout was amazing. The support from the local fashion industry has been amazing as well. Local photographers, make up artists and Brava Hair Studio have stepped in to make this event a bit of New York, right here on the Emerald Coast.

"There is really no way to express our gratitude to the countless men, women and business's that have supported this event", says Donna Tashik of Horizons." We live in a community that is beautiful, inside and out, and this event will make a huge difference in the lives of our clients".

The event is presented by The Emerald Grande, The Emerald Ladies Journal, Silver Sands Premium Outlets, Simply Elegant Formal Wear and Gloria Frazier ERA realty.
Sponsors include Beach Community Mortgage, Brodie Bowman Orthodontics, Old South Land and Title, University Lending Group, Arriaga Jewlrey,  On the Coast Magazine, A World of Signs, TSC Productions, Particle 9 Productions, Lisa Jo Spencer, Pa, Brava Hair Studios and Surf Dog Surf Shop.
