Do you want to make your summer epic? Truly epic? Ohana Records offers individuals a chance to become a ROCK STAR!!! You’ll immediately feel the cool vibe as you enter the music studio door at Ohana Records. You will then be greeted by a smiling and enthusiastic Jonathan Mitchell, who created Ohana Records with the goal of being the most unique music program in the country. Whether you have a great deal of musical talent or no experience at all, yes, even zero experience, but an inkling of interest, Ohana Records can help you find the hidden rock star wanting to come out. They offer after school programs as well as a weekly music camps all summer long.

Jonathan Mitchell brings experience and professionalism to the program. Before founding Ohana Records in 2011, He majored in elementary education with a minor in communication at Palm Beach Atlantic University. In the summer, he worked children and youth camps dealing with music. When he graduated from college, he moved to Atlanta to pursue a songwriting career. In 2003, he joined a band with his brothers called Georgia. In 2007, his band landed a record deal with Atlantic Records. Over the years, his band has had the opportunity to tour alongside Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Need To Breathe, Eric Church, Collective Soul, Better than Ezra and many more.

Under the expertise and guidance of Jonathan, students are placed with others who may or may not have a musical background. The idea behind this type of setting is that students cooperate and teach each other; natural leaders step up and students are given the freedom to discover what their greatest interests and talents are: from learning the sound boards, to playing a variety of instruments to main vocals. The Ohana Records music program focuses on letting the student control their learning experience through a social and musical environment. The facilitator, Jonathan, serves as their band manager, which allows the student the ability to develop freely while forming bands, learning instruments, and songwriting. The students are given a certain amount of space depending on their age and level, allowing them to learn a variety of things including selfconfidence, leadership, teamwork, self expression, presentation skills, problem solving, public speaking, creativity, and much more. The goal is building confidence in the students and promoting a positive learning environment. An environment where you have to work with your fellow band members to accomplish your goals. All of these things are important aspects of being successful in life.

There is even FREE, open to the public, monthly concerts (June 21st, July 26, August 23) scheduled where the students can showcase what they have learned. It’s your time to shine in the spotlight and you have a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best in a state of the art facility, right here On The Coast. Cool Factors: You get to be in a ROCK BAND and develop confidence while learning teamwork, cooperation and music skills!
